Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Algiers July 22-25, 2016. He discussed bilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues with several Algerian officials including the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Minister of Energy, Minister of Finance, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The Deputy Secretary also met with civil society actors, went on a walking tour of downtown Algiers, and visited the American International School of Algiers, which will open its doors to young students in August 2016. He also visited the Moudjahid National Museum and wrote this message to Algerians: “An extraordinary testament to the Algerian people’s struggle for freedom and self-determination. We admire the courage of generations of Algerians to pursue their independence—a spirit we Americans and Algerians share.”
