U.S. Embassy to Host Fair Highlighting Exchange Programs

Educational and cultural exchanges are a key pillar of U.S. diplomacy. In Algeria, the U.S. Embassy is proud to build bridges and mutual understanding between Americans and Algerians through a wide range of exchange programs. Since 1986, the U.S. Embassy has sponsored more than 3,450 Algerians to participate in programs linked to professional development, leadership, education, entrepreneurship, science, the arts, and more. On August 27, 2016 from 2:30-4:30pm at the Sofitel Hama Garden Hotel, the U.S. Embassy will host a fair to showcase 18 embassy-sponsored exchange programs, including two program opportunities with upcoming application deadlines:   The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, for young and mid-career professionals to enhance their professional development through specialized ten-month non-degree programs at select U.S. universities. The application deadline is September 10, and instructions are available at https://dz.usembassy.gov/education-culture/exchanges/.  The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program, a nine-month fellowship to teach Arabic in American colleges, universities, or high schools. Participants may also take graduate-level English and American studies courses. The application deadline September 13, and instructions are available at https://dz.usembassy.gov/education-culture/exchanges/. The fair is open to the public with advanced registration, and will be an opportunity to hear from Algerian alumni of U.S. exchange programs about their experiences. Members of the public wishing to attend the fair are invited to register at this link https://goo.gl/7t8GVn and bring a printed confirmation page to the fair along with an official ID in order to be admitted entry. Registration slots are free but limited in number; therefore, only registrants confirmed in advance will be admitted entry.
